Service 1

Fret Work

As we know, having a level fret plane is essential to getting a well sounding and playing fretted instrument. Our Inspection & Evaluation Reports allow us to provide you a clear picture of your entire fret board in document format you can see.

An unlevel fret plane can cause a number of problems, not just buzzing issues alone. Intonation can be thrown off, premature fret wear resulting in sooner re-frets and dead notes are all issues that can arise, to name just a few. Sharp fret ends from fret board dehydration shrinkage, and even simply fret wear from playing use can all effect your enjoyment out of the instrument.

The frets are one of the most important parts on a fretted stringed instrument, which is why we provide professional fret work services from simple maintenance polishing to full re-frets.

Electronics

We provide a full range of electronics work services, from simple faulty output jack replacements to entire wiring harness replacements.

All electronics work is done on ‘Bench Time’, which means we run a stop clock while at the bench during the repair/installation to determine how much time we have invested into work from start to finish.  From the de-tensioning of the instrument (if applicable), to the final re-stringing after the work has been completed.

For the first 30 minutes, it is a flat rate fee of $65.00 with an additional $1.75 added per minute thereafter until the repair/installation is completed and the instrument has been put back together, re-strung and tuned back up to pitch.

Structural Repairs

If you own a Les Paul, I'm sure you are very familiar with structural repairs, such as partial or complete head stock breaks. This is unfortunately due to the neck construction of these instruments, in which head stocks breaks can most commonly be caused by improper shipping packing. For head stock breaks severe enough, we recommend installing splines out of matching neck material to reinforce the break, then glue can be applied before clamping. Re-finishing is completely optional, but is recommended if you'd like to not see the splines.

More structural repairs include some of the following:

  • Neck resets

  • Acoustic top flattening/Bridge Doctor installations due to over humidification

  • Bridge plate repairs/replacement

  • Acoustic sides, top & back patches

Custom Set-Ups

We highly recommend an Inspection Report when you come in for the initial Set-Up. This allows us to take all the current adjustment measurements, and provide you with options on how to alleviate the issues making the instrument difficult to play.

Included in our Custom Set-Ups, apart from the adjustments themselves are the following:

  • A new final string set in your preferred tuning & string gauge

  • Cleaning & proper conditioning of the fret board & bridge (if applicable)

  • A full compound  buff of the entire body, neck and head stock

  • Proper lubrication of the tuning machines

  • Cleaning of inside the sound hole & around bracings (if applicable)

  • A sonic bath & lubrication of all moving Floyd-Rose bridge parts (if applicable)

Re-Finishing

As musicians we focus on the sound and feel; but looking good means feeling good, and feeling good means sounding good. This is why we offer re-finishing services that range from complete body, neck & head stock re-sprays to simply scuffing up the back of neck for a a less sticky neck feel. Whether you’re looking for restoration, relic work or customization - we got you covered.

We are currently only spraying polyurethane (reactive) for complete body, neck & head stock re-sprays, due to shop location constraints. We also offer touch-up work for nitrocellulose lacquer (solvent based) finishes.

Vintage Restoration

If you're someone who values authentic replacement parts relevant to your instruments manufacturing year, or are looking for a detailed and thorough restoration on your vintage instrument; call to schedule a Evaluation Report with us today!

We take pride in our diligence of research into your instrument, so that we can provide you with an instrument that sounds as good as it feels.

Every instrument is unique in it's own write, down to the very grain structure of the wood used. Many newer instrument's wood is being speed-grown, which makes keeping the originality & integrity of your instrument's tone incredibly important to us.

Inspection & Evaluation
Reports

Our Inspection Report is a multi-page PDF spec sheet detailing all current Set-Up measurements & condition. Included in the report is our recommendation of work, if anything is found not up to par with the instrument. This also allows us to compare numbers, from drop off to when you get the instrument back and even further during the 6-8 month mark Check Up. The quote for all recommended work will be listed at the bottom of this PDF report.

Our Evaluation Report is a more detailed inspection in written word format, suitable for services such as appraisals. In your final invoice, there is a work log that has a description of the work performed. This allows us to track your instruments changes in Set-Up dimensions, during the Check-Up.

The beauty of the report format (credit to Brian Hill) is to show you exactly what is going on with your instrument, so that you can make the best informed decision on how to get playing comfortably again.

Free Check-Ups

After the initial Set-Up, we offer free Check-Up appointments to maintain the instrument’s Set-Up adjustments throughout temperature & humidity changes year round.

As wood swells and contracts, these changes affect numerous physical contact points of the string plane. The truss rod, is a perfect example as they were specifically designed to move.

During a Check-Up, we go over all of the documented final measurements given to you when you receive your instrument back after the initial Set-Up. Check-Ups are done while you wait, and usually take around 30-45 minutes. We recommend scheduling a Check-Up with us every 6-8 months. However, if you notice anything about the initial Set-Up that is making the instrument difficult to play, let us know and we can schedule you in sooner.

Most shops will require an additional Set-Up, when usually all that is needed is a simple truss rod adjustment. Our goal is to provide you with an instrument you love to play, throughout the year.
